What is Crates Of Love?

Crates of Love is our newest initiative born from a simple idea: small comforts can make a big difference. We assemble welcome crates filled with essential supplies to help shelter dogs transition into their forever homes. While a crate doesn’t guarantee a match, it often makes it easier for adopters to say “yes” by removing some of the up-front cost and uncertainty that comes with bringing a new dog home. We want people to know we’re not just your everyday pooper scoopers, we’re truly trying to make a difference. We donate a percentage of all proceeds to American Protection League of SC already, and are going to take another percentage of all proceeds to build crates of love ourselves even if we can make it a community effort to do.

We know firsthand how expensive — and overwhelming — the first days of pet ownership can be. That’s why we created Crates of Love: to give adopted pups a stronger start and to make adoption a more accessible, joyful choice for families. Once the idea took root, we didn’t hesitate — we rolled up our sleeves and made it happen. No committee meetings, no second-guessing — just a simple, heartfelt solution to help dogs find homes.

We’d love to see “crates of love” become the go-to welcome kit for every new shelter pet or rescue. It’s a big dream, but we’ll keep making a difference—one furry friend at a time.

Our very first pet has been chosen — and it was a no-brainer. Meet Rocky!

Rocky arrived at the Animal Protection League of South Carolina on March 13, 2018, and spent more than 3,000 days waiting for his humans. After years in a shelter, we know it’s time for Rocky to find his forever home and finally feel the love he deserves. We catered the crate to suit Rocky and his needs we asked the shelter about his diet and what toys he enjoyed and set off on the mission to get him adopted. Here’s to hoping Rocky finds the Furever home he truly deserves!

  • For now we’re focusing on local pups — specifically those who’ve spent the longest time in shelters. That’s our plan for the foreseeable future.

  • The Crate of Love doesn’t promise to guarantee a dog’s adoption, but it’s designed to make that “yes!” a lot more likely.

  • We tailor each Crate of Love to the individual dog. We coordinate with the shelter to match the food they’re already eating, choose treats they’ll enjoy, and include toys that suit their play style. Beyond that, each crate contains essential items—comfort, care, and a few thoughtful extras—packed into one important, ready-to-use crate.

  • Yes — and we’re all for it! If your home’s already a happy zoo or you’re not ready for another furry roommate but still want to help, we’ve got options. We can build the crate for you, or provide guidance so you can DIY one yourself.

  • We started Crates of Love for a couple of heartfelt reasons. With shelters overflowing, we wanted to do our part to help dogs find loving homes. We also know how quickly the costs of bringing a new pet into your life add up—adoption fees, crates, food, bowls, treats, toys, beds, and other essentials can get expensive fast. Our goal is to support pet adopters and shelters alike, making it easier and more affordable for pups to find their forever families.

  • Our greatest inspiration— is Dingo. I brought him home at a time when I had almost nothing but what it took to feed, walk, and care for him. Looking back, I know it wasn’t the most practical choice, and yet I would do it again in a heartbeat. Adopting Dingo didn’t just give him a home; he rescued me, too. His unwavering love turned the hardest days into something brighter, and that kind of joy is what everyone should feel.
